Why CSCO will not buy NN:

biz.yahoo.com

Watch for more optical moves by CSCO/NT. CSCO needs metro DWDM and NT needs OXC technology.

Both have adequate ATM technology.

I still say ALA, $45, before NN announces earnings.

Cheers,

peppe

Peppe, NT ATM passport was never desinged for anything more then
technology showcase and they have been late.It is access gear not core or edge and can not scale.
If overloaded you have serious problems.
And this have anything to do with buyout.
You have been guessing to much about possible candidate.
By the end of 1999 it was NT, now ALA.
Better wait and see.
On the other hand, everybody here is only guessing.

ALA makes sense. If NN has any good news pending, $45 does not. Also, I wonder if TM and the French are suitable partners. Just a WAG, but I can't see Terry in that bed for very long.

Peppe, download file from here :
prodweb.newbridge.com:80/doctypes/leadstory/n670/index.jhtml
and compare 670SRP(50 and soon multishelfs 450 gig)which has IP/MPLS and ATM protocols separated!!!
NN has already shipped 50 gig to four customers including SBC and BT, the big one not just
money loosing, financed ISP.
So CSCO press about "the only vendor" is just hype.
But, hey you have to do it.

The notion that CSCO is not a buyout candidate because they already have the technology, may be disingenuous. Consider the scenario that they may wish to prevent others from having this technology? They may, also, be not as well-equipped as they give themselves credit <g>

As NN shareholders, we should hope for a CSCO type bidder - they pay well ...
