rude: I'm glad to hear you say, that you don't think "any of these companies are selling those products at a loss."
Even from where I "sit" I always expected this to happen, and I am not surprised that IBM cpq and HP will have a well thought out plan to drive these prices down. For one thing, obviously, they can justify it in terms of the overall position they take, with the customer.

For example, I think it was outrageously stupid, that Dell did not even bid, on the Ford order that HP got. Going back to my days as an IBM account sales person, I can't even IMAGINE what was in the head of Michael, when that stupid decision was made. To do that, in a high profile account, is equivalent to suicide, from my "little" point of view.

Sometimes people who have lost their competitive edge (need to win an account relationship) lose their common sense, (my attempt to put it politely).
