Frank,

Thanks for the response. I too believe the IL's review these boards.

I'm not well read in the nuances of an all optical topology to comment intelligently so I'll just lurk the FCTF until I get it.

Thanks again.

OT* Frank! Do you recall that little play I gave you a couple of months ago called Baycorp Holding (MWH)? We discussed how power; electricity, oil and gas(natural & propane) would be sold through the internet via HoustonStreet.com which MWH owns. I suggested that the boundries that we currently have such as region, state, and municipal would be broken so that ANY co. could bid on power without having to go through local co.s retail offering of power. WELL, it's becoming a reality! In its infantile form as of yet but this site will be, IMO, the end of 'buying' power as we know it today!

houstonstreet.com

and of course this happened today, which I believe, validates my thoughts!

Frank,

I feel a little like I'm bringing home a friend I know Momma would not have approved of with this one, but..

I found this on another thread and no one addressed it. They must have been in an urban area that had been upgraded, but self installs?

Any comment?

From street advisor:
=====================
Our AOL experience went like this: One phone call to the company verified that we had service in the area. AOL immediately shipped the DSL modem and connectivity software to us via UPS. We were informed that the DSL would be activated immediately following our conversation, and that all we would need to do was plug the modem into the phone jack and install the software. Despite our previous experience, AOL insured us that no technician would ever need to visit the house. Yeah, right.

As promised, the equipment arrived by UPS (NYSE: UPS). We installed the software, plugged in the modem, and were surfing the web at high speeds within 10 minutes from the time we opened the box! No complex IP addresses were ever entered, as the AOL software did everything flawlessly. The monthly cost for the service is $39. If you already have an AOL account on the basic plan of $20 per month, you will only have to pay the additional $19 to upgrade to blazing speeds.
