<Entremed stock at times where it would not have been possible to short it at a real brokerage.>

As far as I know it never became hard to borrow... what broker are you using??

<I find it unfortunate that the VD model is handled as a margin account. >

It's the real world, for me it's helpful... FWIW you can see the cost of all the positions and at least eyeball the types of returns the stocks achieve.

<<With real money the performance would not be quite the same. >>

Andreas, this is total BS and I am quite surprised and disappointed by your comment. The fact is I own every stock in the portfolio and my broker insists that I invest real money. You say we made money shorting ENMD when it was impossible to short with real money. I suggest you get another broker. I shorted it and made real money. So did many other people. The portfolio made about $27,000 on the ENMD trades out of approximately $1million in profit in less than three years. Hardly meaningful.
With regard to margin, welcome to the real world. The portfolio was our suggestion on how to invest 100grand almost three years ago. Margin is permitted and virtually every hedge fund that I know of takes advantage of it. It works both ways. When the stocks go up you make more money if they go down you loose more. 2 1/2 years ago Rocket and I were convinced the sector was incredibly undervalued so we leveraged the porfolio. In hindsight we were right and the portfolio reaps the rewards. Currently the portfolio only has about 13% of its assets borrowed. Not exactly highly leveraged.
Moreover, because we have limited time and the accounting takes time and effort which CYTO does for FREE we have not engaged in some trading vehicles such as options that I have done personally and the portfolio has not taken advantage of. An example is when we considered purchasing SEPR leaps about 75 points ago. Instead we purchased the stock.
Finally please spare us on the information on your personal portfolio. When you post it every day on the internet it will be interesting. Until then is is self aggrandizing BS.
