Re: CREE - Blue Lasers

The information you presented appeared in the March issue of a new magazine called Technology Investor on pg. 50. It was a sidebar to an article "Tapping the Wireless Market" in which they briefly compared CREE's SiC to gallium arsenice (GaAs). They noted that SiC can withstand a higher electrical field, thus increasing suitability for high-power devices, they can withstand higher temperatures and they can be placed very close together allowing more compact integrated circuits.

lurkerdude - yes CREE's other potential bowling alleys are numerous to say the least. But all pre chasm. Only 'across the chasm' and into the bowling alley - IMOH - is the blue/green LED chips. I like what Mike said about CREE/SiC being close to the bottom of the food chain - i.e. only two steps up from electricity. That's what made me pull the trigger a little early on this one. CREE/SiC has so many possible markets ahead of it it boggles the mind. I thought the "micro-hypergrowth" of the LED's was enough of a risk offset to warrant an increase in my share holdings now past my initial 'starter' position. CREE is now 14% of my holdings. Well it was about 10% but it 'grew' to 14% all on it's own. And it sure didn't take long to do that either! Now if we can just find out what's behind it's little drop this afternoon. Getting news about this potential baby gorilla is always a bear! CREE doesn't exactly have a robust PR department up and running yet!
