Jim, <It would be ugly if Intels stock performed as bad as Dells... Real ugly...>

Sour grapes, Jim? INTC is at another all-time high today, and you ... well, Paul already gives you a hard time about it.

Jim,

Couldn't it be that expectations for DELL were just too high. After all, you can't take away market share from others for ever, unless you think DELL will take over the entire PC boxmakers market.

You know, that gorilla theory is one thing, but by becoming larger and larger, it becomes more difficult to grow at the same speed. Intel and Microsoft are two exceptional companies, and even they are having the same problem.

Bert

P.S. I checked for that new free software from CA an AMD.
On AMD website is just the press release, on CA there is already a short technical sheet of this product. For those who are interested, here is the link:

cai.com

It comes available by the end of feb.

Jim, do you know who K. Matter is....he's one of the Godfathers of the Dell thread. Before I posted on AMD, I would lurk on the Dell thread. K. Matter would come on when anyone was upset about the Dell stock and wax nostalgically how Dell had lifted him from a life of poverty and how he had to been to Austin and watched the new plant being built and how M. Dell would take care of them....there were always violins playing in the background. Then he would exchange posts with other Dell Godfathers and then flit off for another few days of respite. Its turns out he is a wrestling coach in upstate NY.

The point is no one ever challenged K. Matter on the wisdom of investing in Dell which is why this current post is ground breaking. I would not be surprised if DELL headquarters is being stormed with emails. Probably that's why M.Dell felt the need to trash AMD.

There is something to the term Dellheads.
