Bill-- Thanks for your comments. I do want to follow up on a previous post.

The large 5% increase in productivity is congruent with my previous post about the enormous pressure being placed on suppliers by giant distributors. I suspect that this trend was started by the Spanish fellow who defected from GM who simply demanded more productivity from suppliers, and this has now become routine. Again, IMO, we all benefit from this.

As an aside, one of my Ghanaian graduate students told me her sister was the top accounting student at the University. She was then hired at $2000 per YEAR by one of the major accounting firms from NY. All business is done on the internet. This was three yrs ago, and IMO, it portends a positive trend.

Trade is now entirely global, and pressures are on for increased productivity.
