Steve, it's well-known that the IMF is worried about the U.S. stock market. note that the bubble only reached its current proportions due to the bailout orgy of '98....so one problem was averted, for the price of creating a potentially much bigger problem. a bursting of the U.S. asset bubble could lead to a global economic depression, a complete mirror image of the boom that preceded it.
