Thanks, Chris, for the link to the article about Oracle, a terrifically well balanced article.

Do you know what happens when you drop 900 programmers on top of a problem and tell them to write an app... fast.. <vbg> Nothing Siebel needs to worry about - not for awhile and by then it will be too late. Oracle is famous for making promises. Rarely do they deliver. Now ask me if I think their CRM 'sales figures' are real or not... <g> No way... And what did that article say? Oracle DB was only up 18-19% or something and yet the Oracle DB's are everywhere (that much I DO believe). I wonder where the rest of the Oracle DB and app revenue went.. mmmm... Perhaps found it's way into the 'CRM' sales figure?

I wish I could 'trust' Oracle's hype more but I've seen too much you-know-what from them over the years to believe ANYTHING they say until I see it backed up by independent sources. How many CRM partners have they announced in the last quarter? Now compare that to Siebel. How many CRM customers - and I mean note worthy customers. Now compare that to Siebel.

Larry is trying to bluff his way into CRM and throwing 900 folks at the problem to get something put together in months 'just to get something out there'.

Sorry... I'm not sold they are a threat. What's everyone elses opinion? Sy? TD?

So ORCL CMR program 11i will be available in 6 months, but meanwhile SEBL is in the tornado. Six months of tornado time is like several years of non tornado time in terms of dominating a market. SEBL will be the standard, everybody else will have to try to play catch up in mainstream markets.
