AOL & InsWeb pacts ease insurance buying

InsWeb, an Internet company that claims to offer consumers the
ability to find the best price for insurance in the shortest
amount of time, on Thursday announced a co-branded agreement with
AOL-owned Netscape Netcenter, CompuServe and Digital City that
will allow America Online users to shop for insurance.

Under the deal, InsWeb will become Netscape's exclusive link to
auto, term life, homeowners and renters insurance comparison
shopping. InsWeb (INSW) will also be available at CompuServe and
Digital City, and will develop co-branded sites for all three
Internet portals. The launch is scheduled for the spring.

"Through our relationship with InsWeb, we will be able to offer
our online consumers easy access to quality insurance products,"
said Jonathan Sacks, senior vice president and general manager of
interactive services at AOL, in a statement. "Users of several of
our brands will now have the ability to save time and money while
searching for auto, life and homeowners/renters insurance."
