i always thought that bubble boy needed to be FORCED by a serious outbreak of inflation to begin to reign things in. by that time it could however be too late...
all that Fed mumbo-jumbo about being 'pro-active' is nonsense as long as money supply growth doesn't moderate significantly.
alas, they're probably shell-shocked by the stock market display on 01/03, the first day after the late '99 splurge when they didn't add reserves.
