As I have previously said, I have serious doubts about the legality of holding a meeting like this open only to analysts. It seems to me that there can only be two possibilities: either the information being distributed is not material to a decision whether to invest in the company, in which case the meeting is a waste of time; or the information is material to an investment decision. If it is material non-public information, then I believe under the securities laws it may be illegal to selectively distribute it (I haven't actually reviewed the law on this, so J. Goren or some other legal eagle please comment). I guess this concern goes to the entire way that information is distributed by companies to fund managers, analysts, or anyone else, but so be it. Of course I do not expect that the company is obligated to give cocktail parties to the general public. -- idler.
