>> What idiocy it is to sell your winners because they are winners! I noticed they did not unload the stocks that went no where last year.

In the words of Peter Lynch, your Trust Fund Managers are picking the roses and watering the weeds. It must be frustrating for you to see them collect management fees for their stupidity. Did your grandparents leave you a way to get out of their clutches?

I see Uncle FranQ asked the question I was going to.

I'll tell you I had the similar experience with a full service broker. They told me if I could do a better job get another broker. I fired them the next day and couldn't be happier. As they said in the movie Pretty Woman, big mistake, or as Irwin Jacobs might say, very, very big mistake.

Good luck,

Tony

Even the famous Gregg Powers was forced by his venture fund to sell some of his Q to rebalance the portfolio. This was definitely pre-split 4:1 and maybe even pre 2:1 split, when it was in the loft $200 range or so. As I recall, he was not very happy about it at the time.

You are wrong. It is down because of earning prospect is lowered. It will NOT go up until its prospect changes for the better.

>>He said they had sold half the QCOM in all portfolios after the split to rebalance the portfolio, that QCOM had become too high a percentage of the portfolio. <<

that makes no sense -- it's the same percentage of value of the portfolio regardless of the split.
