I access SI from the UK and it seems fine when its running normally. Most cable ISPs are lousy according to what I heard, and a lot of dial up ISPs go through phases of being very lousy. You can't do anything to improve the cable, they have always been pathetic. You can try different dial-ups though, and for high speed maybe ADSL and even fixed-wireless if available.

I live in Texas and since last night I have been to a bunch of sites trying to get prices on some computer equipment. Most of them have been on the West coast and ALL of them either don't work or hang when they are loading. I think this hacker thing is a lot bigger than we think. Someone on the tube this morning was speculating it may be the same group that caused all the fuss at the WTO meeting. Makes sense to me.
