If i were the NOVL Marketing team - and I am not - I would have a blitz of WIN2K Deployment and Management solution announcements on the Feb17th date (or the day before).

In fact, my NOVL press release (and/or advertisement) for that day would be something as follows:

"NOVL congratulates MSFT for its release of its next generation OS of NT - WIN2K. NOVL understands the interest and demand that WIN2K will have to our customers in the coming months. With this in mind, NOVL today announces a package of technology that will help the customers of both Novell and Microsoft in their deployment and management of WIN2K over the coming months and years..."
....(then Novell details how a package of these already existing NDS-enabled tools that work with WIN2K are offered to the market. eDirectory, ZENWorks that supports today WIN2K, and consulting services).

NOVL should give the industry a CLEAR message that they are not scared of WIN2K's arrival and in fact find this MSFT product arrival as great opportunity for revenue for NOVL as well as an opportunity to help the customers that will be grappling with major deployment/management issues with WIN2K. NOVL should give the clear message that they are embracing the role of WIN2K in the industry and are eager to assist both NOVL and MSFT's customer base to address the missing pieces that WIN2K cannot provide.

In this Feb17 communique NOVL should communicate how WIN2K is not the big picture that everyone might have been waiting for, but rather, it is simply a piece of a larger vision in the industry. NOVL has a strong hold on the big picture of "The NET" and how its Network Services Software provide the foundation for pieces like WIN2K to operate more effectively for the customer and the NET community as a whole.

Just my thoughts again. But, alas, I am but a lowely SI poster in the stream of SI postings feeding the ocean of messages and thoughts in the Internet. :)

Cheers!
