The alliance will offer Total Internet service solutions for Indian corporates. The relationship will comprise a broad range of application and communication services in India and Asia Pacific, and enable corporate customers to get a full range of services and solutions from a single source. "Our focus is only on corporates who need domestic and global data services," Aravind Thakur, president, Software Business, NIIT, told this correspondent. Under this agreement, the Delhi-based NIIT will provide application solutions for enterprises using Telstra's managed networking infrastructure-hosting capabilities. Announcing the partnership, Thakur said, "Application Service Provisioning (ASP) and value-added corporate data solutions are a direct result of the proliferation of the Internet and packet switching technologies." He added that the alliance with Testra, which has an extensive global network and partnerships, will enable customers to access solutions from a single source in the most effective way. Testra focuses strongly on the growth opportunities of convergent business--which includes data, the Internet, e-commerce and content-based applications. "NIIT is a trusted brand with a large geographic reach, strong business and systems integration, and solutions skills," said Ashok Barat, Testra's Regional Director for Asia. He added that NIIT will be a key strategic partner as Testra moves forward in the rapidly changing market. Incidentally, NIIT is rapidly transitioning itself into an e-business corporation. The Far Eastern Economic Review (December 1999) had ranked NIIT among the "Top 10 Indian Tigers" in its annual review covering Asia's 200 leading companies. The company has a staff strength of over 4000 operating in 35 countries through subsidiaries in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific, Greater China, Japan, and India.
