Greg, ed is right about that and I tried to elucidate it in my post too. Sometimes we get confused about terms here, quickly dashed off in posts, but if you've got cash, it's 100% marginable. Stock positions are variable depending on brokerage and your weighting in the stock and the stock itself, but generally they generate about 60-70% margin in the tech arena. You could sell puts against that capacity, and/or buy calls. Whatever cash you use to buy calls, you've reduced your cash AND margin capacity as a result. This needs to be factored in if you play both types of options.

You said BRCM looked top heavy when it was at 335 now it's at 350...you think it'll run to 400...this one is driving me crazy as I want to participate and I can't get a feel for its behavior yet cuz I haven't been watching it long enough
