Greg, ed is right about that and I tried to elucidate it in my post too. Sometimes we get confused about terms here, quickly dashed off in posts, but if you've got cash, it's 100% marginable. Stock positions are variable depending on brokerage and your weighting in the stock and the stock itself, but generally they generate about 60-70% margin in the tech arena. You could sell puts against that capacity, and/or buy calls. Whatever cash you use to buy calls, you've reduced your cash AND margin capacity as a result. This needs to be factored in if you play both types of options. Jill
