I couldn't agree with your post more. While I do think that these attacks are a great waste of the Internet pleasures that we all enjoy I see a silver lining out of this which will force all Internet companies like CMGI to stand up and deal with this problem. It seems to me to be an easy remedy to prevent these attacks. Many ways are available using technology that already exists. While I think that it is a problem today in the long run it will force these sites to upgrade and make the web safer and more secure in the future.
