Hi fudd:

Looks like the market believes Dell as well!!!NOT!!! Is there a credibility problem here or what?

INTC down $2.50 and AMD up almost $1.00 as we speak...Shouldn't this be the other way round given Mickey's endorsement of the invisible PWeeIII 800? Or is the market no longer paying attention to Mickey's pronouncements either?

Elmer RE...<<<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
00/02/08, 6:16pm - From Ace's... IBM posted information and spec2000 scores for their RS/6000 Model 44P-170 workstations. These scores, up to 249 for int and 344 for fp (both scores at 400MHz), are respectively 43.9% and 40.4% below the current high scorer, Compaq's AlphaServer DS20E Model 6/667 (note: of course, spec2000 scores are not the end all and be all of server stuff; there are other benchmarks out there for different types of servers, and indeed >>>>

Nice try Elmer but you are way short of IBM's nos posted on JC's .. Don't you ever get tired of trying to buffalo us with your special perfetched compilers. If INtel's so proud of their no's bring out the compiler; its been over the allowed 60 days; and lets try an athlon out. chicken?
Why don't you read Tom's review of the Kx-133 in which he compares a athlon 800 to a pIII 800. Those tests were done on real world available to everyone tests; and exact same tests were done to both machines at same time. Then we can compare them. All this is is one sided garbage.

"Highest scores ever reported" doesn't quite ring true there, especially wrt Compaq. There is some confusion on specint_base95 vs. SPECint95 though. Compare
specbench.org vs.
specbench.org .

There's no confusion on fp, though, compare specbench.org and specbench.org . That's 700 mhz Alpha vs. 800 mhz cumine, too.

Athlon results are a bit old, no 800 and relatively old compilers, 4.0 vs. 4.5. AMD has some problems, but it's not clear if it's the cpu or the chipset/memory.

Cheers, Dan.
