What we were talking about was the relocation of Ericsson IP to the DC metro area.

I would guess that they relocated the IP division here to take advantage of the infrastructure - a lot of the telcoms have locations in the I66/Tyson's corner/Leesburg Pike area.

There is a good quality of life here, except for people who have to commute into DC. You could live in Loudoun county in a really nice house on at least a quarter acre lot for maybe $225K, or a big new house for $300K, and commute to work in less than 20 minutes. If you have school age children who qualify for the gifted and talented programs, better live in Fairfax, which is more expensive, but it's still cheaper than Silicon Valley. :)
