In the long term, yes Cree needs to worry about this. It's just lab work for now, and you can't make a commercial product of it. But Cree needs to push down the cost of SiC, and push up the wafer size in order to keep from being overtaken.

It's articles like this that should convince the people over on the G&K thread that Cree is no potential Gorilla. But instead they are debating where Cree fits in their artificial scheme of things.
