There was some coverage about Globalstar Northern Europe in Finnish newspapers today. According to the service providers, phones will start selling in April and one minute will cost 10 markkaa "on average". 10 markkaa is about 1.80 dollars with the current weak euro. As a reference, typical mobile minute in Finland now starts from 18 cents at off-peak hours (monthly charges are very low). The guy talking to the press seemed very proud that Globalstar is not repeating the Iridium launch mistakes. Apparently one target consumer group might be people sailing in the Baltic Ocean. Tero
