Indaba 2000 Invest in Africa
Mining Conference. Cape Town: 8 - 10 February

The "Investing in African Mining" Indaba conference is in its fifth year and brings together international mining executives, property owners and the global investment community. The conference programme provides up-to-date mining legislation and responds to trends and opportunities in the industry. The conference forum also attracts long-term investment capital to mining projects in African countries. This year's Investing in African Mining conference is held from February 8 to February 10.

Commenting on the success of the conference, organiser Sandy
Lawrence of International Investment Conferences Incorporated says:
"Every year has experienced substantial growth including the present
year. We anticipate more than 1000 delegates will attend.

Held at the Cape Sun Intercontinental hotel in Cape Town, the conference has about 70 sponsors representing both the major and junior mining companies from across the globe. The sponsors will have booths at the conference venue manned by professional and knowledgeable company representatives. Many representatives will have company literature available and will be on hand to discuss their companies and mining-related matters.

In addition to the sponsors, there will be about 64 speakers of which
about 26 will be ministers and ministry representatives from Africa's major mining countries. South Africa's own department of mineral and energy affairs will be represented at the conference. Other speakers are Mr Abessolo Abenelang, Cameroon's director of mines, water and energy; Minister Kaunda Lembalemba, of the mines and minerals ministry in Zambia; and Ghana's mines and energy minister Mr F. Ohene Kena will also be present at the conference.
