I often have a position in both the long and short accounts - that way I can stomach holding some through the ups and downs while actively trading the shares in the short term account. It has solved the problem of not being willing to sell a stock I love, and beating myself up when something I have just sold takes off. Also, it forces me to keep a close eye on my favorite stocks so I can take advantage of the short term moves. Even though HLIT was only in my IRA, I watch it closely so I was able to see it was getting reading to surge today. Otherwise, I would have missed the pop. (I missed ARTG today because I sold it weeks ago and stopped watching it closely.) I do this with GNET, HLIT, RAZF, ICGE and CRA and JDSU. All are out of my trading acct as of today, but still reside in my IRA and SEP at much lower prices. So I'm not sad I had to sell the trading shares.

Thanks to all you have taught me SF, you've been a huge part of my trading success.
