This from their last 10Q, 11/16/99
During 1998, the Company purchased approximately $50,000 of the common stock of SOFTBANK Corp. ("Softbank"), Japan's largest distributor of software,peripherals and networking products. These securities had a gross unrealized holding gain of $331,619 at October 2, 1999 and $6,666 as of January 2, 1999.
Income taxes have not been provided on the unrealized gain due to tax planning strategies that the Company believes will reduce its tax consequences to an immaterial amount.

Not a bad gain from late 89 to 10/99, anyone know how well SoftBank has done since.

Hi Reseller: I searched the newspaper archives and found a KnightRider article dated October 20, 1998. It stated pretty much what you posted but left out one important fact.

Here is the relevant portion of the article:

"... The giant Santa Ana-based electronics distributor signed an alliance with Softbank, Japan's largest distributor of software and computer peripherals. The two companies will seal the partnership by buying $50 million, or about 1 percent, of each other's stock..."

============================================================

As long as Ingram has not sold any of their SoftBank stock, we know that it is equivalent to "about 1%" of the outstanding stock. Anybody know how many outstanding shares of Softbank stock there is?
