Taikun, I find the " That would decimate our earnings, if we had to report as CMGI/ICGE does in the US" comment a little disturbing. On the one hand, Son is encouraging--no, insisting on--transparency and GAAP for companies that hope to list on the Nasdaq-J. Yet here we have an attitude of, well, I don't wanna say "hiding," but .... shall we say "taking shelter" in the byzantine ways of Japanese accounting.

On the other hand, let me also say THANK YOU to Mr. Lax for his untiring efforts!

"Taikun: Do you see SFTBF issuing ADR/US IPO?
Lax: No way! That would decimate our earnings, if we had to report as CMGI/ICGE does in the US.
Taikun: Do you have alot of undisclosed investments?
Lax: 9984 is a 'Sponsor' or 'investor' in SBCP, and does not disclose all. Son likes it that way."

There is a new ipo coming out in March, DVIN, that is a Chicago based "Internet Zaibatsu". In fact, they have claimed the copyright to the term "Internet Zaibatsu". (I don't know if this could stand up to a court challenge <G>). The interesting thing about this IPO is that the company needs to get some Federal laws changed in order to be successful. I think these may be the same laws that are giving Softbank heartburn in trading in the US markets. As discussed on the SI DVIN topic, DVIN promises to be a very well politically connected company and they may actually be able to get some legislation altered in their favor. Hopefully any such changes will also help Softbank. This is a complex issue that I don't pretend to understand, but it may turn out that Softbank has a stake in the success of DVIN. I hope that someone at Softbank is following what happpens to DVIN. BTW, CMGI just got involved in DVIN to a small extent so this political/legal stuff could get interesting (especially behind the scenes). Take a look at the DVIN topic. Netconductor and I have posted some remarks there.
