Re: "If AMD can produce volume at 850 and 900, with a sweet spot at 800, they may be able to continue to put (mild) pressure on Intel ASPs (assuming Intel's sweet spot is no higher than 700MHZ). If AMD drops the Athlon 800 to $250 or so, it could become difficult for Intel to get much more than that for their 700. It's going to be an interesting couple of months! Goutama's famous analyses of the chip and board markets should show us how it turns out."

AMD conducted this price war last quarter and couldn't sell all the processors they made. Intel couldn't make all the processors they could sell. Once Intel capacity is up to speed, and I think that time is now, AMD will have to drop prices even further to keep the warehouses from filling up.
