Well Richard, not to get carried away on an off-topic argument on this thread, but anti-government sentiment (no matter how justified) is perceived as anarchic, as well as a direct threat to cops who think they will wind up on the front line getting shot at by these people.

We have a legal outlet that provides for fighting abusive authorities and plenty of pro-bono lawyers out there willing to make their splash in the world.

These folks have no other recourse but to sue the police for a violation of their civil rights and lack of probable cause (they being quakers and all). And if the legal system fails, they can take it to the press or the internet and tell their story.

That's how we keep abusive governmental authorities in line, not by escalating the hostility and confrontation.

We can take this to PM if you like (however, I don't want to spend a bunch of time on it).

Regards,

Ron

OT Richard law enforcement is not and will never be error free. If we have law enforcement at all, every now and then someone somewhere in this country of some 260 million people will push down the door to Apt 4 instead of Apt. 14. Clerical error, mistyping the address on a warrant, is actually one of the big culprits.

<<One must wonder what was the "real goal" of the police>>
I bet it was (1) to go to the proper address (though in this case they obviously failed), (2) carry out their job without an embarrassing/job threatening goof (though in this case they obviously failed), and (3) keep their skin in one piece in a very dangerous, low-paying occupation (at least that worked).

Remember Hillary's laughable "vast right-wing conspiracy" theory? The "government out of control" theory is just as thinly supported by incidents like this.
