is uniroyal's HB LEDS made from saphire ?? If so why are they seeing such a surge in demand if they are twice the price of SiC LEDS.

my opinion...
yes...uniroyal uses sapphire...that was stated in the palm beach post some time back.
why...the LED market is exploding....uniroyal can sell reds...
the market is there so they can also sell blues at higher than cree's prices until cree can meet the demand. cree does not bother with reds because margins are much lower.

100: There is great demand for LEDs. Cree is sold out for 12 -18 months. Sapphire is a good product for many applications especially outdoor high brite displays...if you couldn't get product but had customers, you would use what was available and UTCI is capitalizing on the demand.
