Dear Rudedog: Thanks for your informative response. You know I was just thinking, I am 56 with 33 years investing experience, Tech is the same age and likely similar experience, Charles wont tell us his age but I picture him as an old fart too, you are COY in stating you are 50+. At least 3 of the people I have mentioned have heavy hands on experience in the computer and/or software industry. Yet, here we are arguing with a 26 year old who appears to have not finished college and couldnt find a job!! Amazing what the internet provides. haha. JDN

I agree with the observations in your post. Microsoft's revenue problem has been that a copy of NT server costs the same amount whether it is for a 5 man company or running on a 4-way Compaq Proliant supporting 1000 people. Microsoft have now wised up. That is why they have brought out Enterprise Edition. In the UK NT Server is œ499, Enterprise edition is œ3000. They have seen the light and are going for Sun type severs with much higher revenues. Check out the price of the Windows 2000 data centre version. It is much higher than Enterprise Edition. So while the NT Server sales share has plateaud, that is just the number boxes, not the power those boxes represent. The new Microsoft pricing structure represents that power. I wasn't aware of the Microsoft projection of 1 - 2% revenue for 64 bit. I am very surprised by this and will check up on it.
