One big difference is Win2000 is not a 64 bit OS. Microsoft
is working on their 64 bit version for IA-64. Where as Linux
has a 64 bit version source code released this month.

I think the most critical factor in IA-64 adoption will be application software. I expect early adoptions of IA-64 to be heavily database and ERP driven.
