Pele Mountain Resources Inc PELE Shares issued 15,486,738 Feb 9 close $0.80 Thu 10 Feb 2000 News Release Mr. Al Shefsky reports During 1997 five diamond drill holes intersected a flat-lying kimberlitic dike while drilling a gold deposit at Pele's 100-per-cent-owned Wawa project. Pele's Wawa project comprises 10,000 acres near the Kapuskasing structural zone. Following reports of diamond discoveries in the Wawa area and a marked increase in diamond exploration in that area, Pele submitted nine kilograms of the dike material for analysis by De Beers. The drill core was sent by De Beers to its laboratory in South Africa and the results were forwarded to Pele during September, 1999. De Beers reported that the drill core contained the following diamond indicator minerals and encouraged Pele to submit a larger sample for microdiamond analysis. Garnet: A total of 28 visually selected grains was probe-confirmed as garnet, of which 26 are G9 and the remaining two are G10-type grains. Spinel: The 547-grain population was probed as spinel. Several grains plot inside the diamond inclusion field of Pipke et al (1995), suggesting moderate sampling of the mantle inside the diamond stability field. Ilmenite: A 339-grain population was subjected to electron microprobe analysis. The majority are mantle-derived, with 205 (51 per cent) being considered megacrystic, and 194 (48 per cent) metasomatic (Moore, 1987). Clinopyroxene: All of the four grains probe-confirmed as clinopyroxene plot in the vicinity of garnet-peridotite compositional fields of Ramsay (1992) and Sobolev et al (1992), indicative of derivation from deep mantle. Earlier today, Band-Ore Resources announced a new diamond discovery three townships southwest of Pele's Wawa project. In 1933, there was also a diamond discovery reported on the property directly to the north of Pele's Wawa project (Fort William Daily Times Journal in 1933). According to Al Shefsky, president of Pele: "Pele's focus continues to be on development of our exceptional gold occurrences at the Ardeen mine project and the Wawa project. Pele is also extremely fortunate that its Wawa project is located at the heart of the diamond activities in the Wawa area. Pele's proximity to the reported diamond discoveries and the confirmation by De Beers of diamond indicator minerals in five drill holes at Pele's Wawa project has added a lot of excitement."
