Thanks to all the folks who gave advice in trying to solve my internet stalls using my new Presario 5900Z. I won't bore you with the details, but after running around the barn with the local phone company, my ISP's and Compaq (must admit I'm disappointed. 3 weeks ago they put me on a supposed fast track problem solving list, and I haven't heard squat from them), the answer came from a poster on the 3Com thread (no wonder that stock has outperformed Compaq). Very simply, he told me to switch to Netscape navigator. I downloaded and installed it this morning, and haven't had one internet hangup or stall. There must be some kind of conflict between the new Compaq's and Internet Explorer 5. It's just a shame that Compaq couldn't come up with a solution for their own customers and machines. Makes me wonder about how much longer I want to hold this stock.
