I am concerned that i wouldn't be able to participate in making money from the correction due to a lack of shortable stocks.

In a correction almost everything is going down. You have plenty of selection of big cap names to choose from. You should start practicing shorting-- its gonna be a vital skill sometime soon.

Often the really juicy "insane" stocks (that tend to be hard to get shorts for) *don't* go down in a correction. I think it is because the daytraders prefer going long and end up having fewer choices to focus on. If a stock is up for irrational reasons why should it sell off just because the market is selling?
