I am not buying HDD for its position in the desktop market. I am buying HDD because it is starting to "think outside the box" (pun intended). They are moving rapidly into consumer electornics. Somebody over there finally sat down and said: "We are not in the PC hard drive business, we are in the memory storage business." This new thinking unleashed all sorts of applications. Stereo systems and VCRs were obvious candidates. But I see many other applications. Security cameras? "Black boxes" on planes, cars and trains? The profit margins are fat there, at least at TiVo and RA.

Yes, capacity will be drawn to fat profit margins, but you can say that about any company that ever was and ever will be.
