Looks like HP is getting rewarded with the first 850 MHZ Athlons.
HP is getting a gold mine and DELL got the shaft!

Cool!

I doubt if a Monday release is priced in to the stock price.

Kap - RE: "Presario 5900Z-850"

Cool!

Chris from amdzone.com called Compaq and here's what he found out -

"I called up Compaq to get delivery time and here's what I found. The Athlon 850 system would get to me in 20 days next day shipping. It would also take 20 days for an Athlon 800 system. Interesting. Here's the kicker, a PIII 800 system would take 45 days to get to me with next day shipping, and the rep told me the Athlon system would be faster anyway due to the higher bus speed!!! Yeah, all of those reports of better PIII 800 availability seem to be nothing more than marketing hype from *ntel."

So not only can AMD get Intel 800 customers from Gateway but also from Compaq buyers who don't want to wait! Thanks Intel!

He is also reporting Via's Joshua (Socker 370, low-end) will come out on the 22nd of this month. Here's the article - zdnet.com

Only 433 and 466MHz so it won't be much of a threat to the K6-2.
