Money is necessary to accomplish many things. Although about a third of the electorate is committed to the Left, and about a third to the Right, and mainly vote Democrat or Republican, there is a squishy middle that is persuadable by the "last argument heard", as it were. In a primary, there is greater homogeneity, but even less commitment, since most of the candidates will agree on a large number of issues, with some exceptions on details and emphasis, and therefore the strength of the campaign is even more important. McCain campaigned harder in NH, and reaped the rewards. Bush campaigned harder in Delaware. We shall see, as the season wears on, if attitudes among voters harden one way or the other.......
