Now that's an interesting concept!

PB, <Other numbers trotted out by Singer include Itanium's capacity to support up to 512-way multi-processor servers, and a 6.4Gflop performance rating. >

Notice that number, 6.4 GFlops? That's the theoretical maximum of a 1.6 GHz Pentium III or Athlon. And even then, those processors won't be able to match the real-world floating-point performance of an 800 MHz Itanium because of the inefficiencies of the x86 architecture.

Wasn't someone on the AMD thread saying that Itanium (Merced) would be behind Athlon at the time of its release?

Message 11135368

Maybe AMD should release their 1.6 GHz Athlon tomorrow. After all, we all know they're able to achieve it already, but AMD is just playing a "cat-n-mouse game" with Intel.

Hi Process Boy, RE: "I see that since it's Thursday, they are evidently leaning toward"

"Several sources have reported there is a pub located in the vicinity of The Register, however, these same sources have repeatedly denied accusations of an early "Happy Hour at the Pub."

Do you think these sources could be wrong? : )

Cheers,
Amy J

PB - Re: "- Purely entertainment reading from YUK."

The dufuses at the YUK Wretchedster enjoy printing this endless line of drivel and garbage.

I wonder how they explain Intel's stock price - as a NASDAQ misprint ?
