Really addressing the issue of bulk sales and discounting on the long term outlook for revenues. So many people on the thread want cheaper rates. The problem, as I see it, is that mgt has so clearly signalled their target rates (40 cents/$1.50/$2.50), that heavy discounting at this point would signal a severe shortfall in customer signups. And that would lead to some heavy analyst revisions.

Whether the satellites would have to be changed is unclear to me. The whole idea of the "bent pipe" is that they are signal-agnostic. New (or existing) Omnitracs units could presumably be designed and made to work according to the G* satellite needs. That this is quite practical is signalled, it seems to me, by the plans for data at 9.6kbps in the second half of the year. (Omnitracs doesn't need a higher speed, does it?)
