A lot of the TA talk really misses the spirit of technical analysis. Of course it is supposed to help traders get in or out before a move. It is used to make predictions.

But I like to look at the technical information the same way I look at a level 2 screen. It's a story, and my conclusions are all interpretations. I have found both TA and the level 2 to be very helpful. But there is no mathematical certainty involved. Common sense tells you that. I believe when Raymond says TA is not predictive he means it in this strict sense of mathematical certainty. The TA itself doesn't predict, but those of us who use it make predictions based on our interpretation of the TA. People argue about what poems mean (well, they used to) and this is what makes a vigorous marketplace (of money or ideas).

Thus, we have a number of disagreements here about what the TA is telling us. Personally I am uncertain about THQ on all counts because BF's "guidance" goes to fundamental questions about the company, which previously I had never thought of as anything but first-rate. I am suspicious of not knowing about the details of the JAKK agreement. (I wonder if it's possible that one side kept all the AKLM payment in return for a more favorable renegotiation of the J.V.) The big short interest makes a lot of TA suspect because a lot of the buying we seen now that some may believe shows strength at the bottom may simply be short-covering, which would imply that when that ends, the price will decline at least temporarily. I think that is actually what happened recently to JAKK: I think the short position covered at 16, and when they finished, there was a day when nobody was ready to step in and buy. Sanity eventually returned and I think we'll see that soon with THQ.
