I would say that your chances of being shafted on eBay are less than if you were buying from any place else.

Confine your bids to people with at least a 50 positive feedback rating, and you will be fine.

Nobody who has built up a good feedback record wants to screw anybody, for fear of it affecting their feedback rating.

The only people I have been screwed by on eBay are the bidders.

I would say that, depending on the item I am selling, between 10 and 20 percent never send in the money.

Of all the items I have purchased on eBay, I have been disappointed with perhaps a handful, and in those cases, have either returned the item for a refund, or gotten the seller to provide me with a partial credit.

I recently bought a brand new Thinkpad 570 laptop on eBay for $2,000. The best price I could find anywhere else was at least $2800 and most other places were more than $3000.

I am using that laptop to type this message, and am extremely pleased with it.

So, go ahead, start bidding!
