Some thoughts on CMGI

CMGI was trading near $50 last November. It tripled pretty quickly and is now selling back a bit. Many holders of CMGI were given the opportunity to get 100 shares of NAVI at the IPO price of $14 at the end of October. NAVI has recently been over $140. Holders of CMGI may likely also receive shares in Alta Vista which will likely be a strong IPO.

As for insider selling, this is a stock that has risen thousands of percentage points the past few years. It is not surprising that some people would want to take some profits.

From a TA standpoint the stock has been right around its 50 day avg. for the past 3 weeks. Looking at price and volume, as the price has declined this year the volume has dropped off. It is quite possible that an announcement about the Alta Vista IPO will bring volume back in and kick off a new uptrend.

I think it is one to keep on the radar screen.
