Michael - Re: "in BRCM and PMCS"

BRCM and PMCS manufacture, among other things, the ICs that actually perform the Physical Layer of driving (and receiving) electric signals off LAN cards, cable Modems, etc. and onto (and across) the actual electrical wires of networks - such as Category 5 cables, Coax cables (cable modems).

Their technology encapsulates some digital processing but a LOT OF analog signal processing - and DRIVING.

BRCM's products are contained on many LAN cards and inside routers and switches of the various Digital Communications companies - Cisco, 3COM, Juniper, Sycamore, etc.
