Duke-- correct,, this could start programs going off but it seems unlikely. Few big guys put a ton of faith into after makert numbers no matter where they go,, up or down. I do know 4 people with a S/L at 25,,, wonder if they will go off at the open... since they are with FS brokers I do not think they will go pre-mkt,,,
What makes you think it will open strong? This has been a very strong week for tech companies and cpq sure as hell did not participate,,, again,,,

Tape Painting

I have heard the thread use this term before, but since I don't usually have time to read all messages I never
really heard all the evidence of this practice. I did research what the thread was referring to and came up with this website: netecon.com

Here is an exerpt:
"Though I conclude that there is scant evidence of price
fixing on Nasdaq, none of my analysis should be taken to
imply that the SEC's other complaints are not serious. Tape
painting occurs when brokers engineer sham trades to
record a price ("painting the tape" on which trade prices
and size are recorded). Quote painting occurs when a
trader posts a quote in order to deceive a customer about
the price at which the stock is currently trading. Tape and
quote painting deceive customers about the prevailing market
price. Neither of these is price fixing; both are forms
of fraud."

If what you are all alleging has some basis in fact, then I think we should be notifying the SEC. Or is this only idle chit chat?
