But the trendline you are showing is one of TODAY, going back five years. By definition the trendline now was not broken back then simply because it was created using those two minimums. That is 20/20 hindsight.

No, this trendline was established in 1995. You pass it through the lows of 1996 and 1997 and 1998 and 1999. The trendline was established in 1996 and has given guidance since then.

What was the trendline looking like back in 1998 and early 1999?

Trendlines don't change year to year. The Trendline back in 1998 and 1999 is the same trendline we have now. By definition it is created by passing a line through the lows. The lows of 1996 and 1997 form the trendline we have today.

Conservatively Yours,
Raymond J. Norris

And that's the "magic" of TA, TraderGreg, you can find the time frame that creates a trend that proves a theory. The longer the time frame of a chart, the more "stable" it looks, the shorter the time frame, the more volatile it looks. This is an old trick used by scientists to set a graph's scale in such a way to accentuate or suppress differences.

You don't need TA to predict up and down trends in THQI. I looked at the issue of seasonality a long time ago and found that THQI (and other video gamers) were very likely to go down in Q1. My practice was to sell THQI on 12/31 and buy back on 4/1. It has worked well. I couldn't resist getting back into THQI today, but it was just all instinct. I'll load up on more on 4/1.
