"On Thursday, Thomas Madden, chief investment officer at Federated Investors, admitted
he isn't as keen about Amazon.com as many analysts and portfolio managers out there.
"Maybe I'm sort of a curmudgeon, but I have to see how we're going to get positive cash
flow from the operating cycle and book profits someday, someway. [So] I wouldn't play
[technology] through e-tailing," he said.
"I would rather own the guys who make the pipes, who run the new networks, who
provide the devices that are used on the new networks; the Nokias (NOK: Research,
Estimates), the Ericssons (ERICY: Research, Estimates) and so forth," Madden added. "That's
been sort of the set of teams we've been using at Federated in our portfolio."
