In an interview held in London, Dell told ZDNet UK News that although AMD was making good progress with its processor range, the technology it offered "was too fragile" for Dell customers. Asked if by 'too fragile' he meant there were incompatibility issues with AMD architecture Dell said, "Yes, and that's vital."

Is AMD Covering Up Bugs In Their Products?

AMD and Nvidia have identified a problem specific to Slot A motherboards using the AMD 751 chipset and the GeForce256 GPU that can potentially cause system hangs. GeForce reference graphics drivers (version 3.62 and later) include a workaround that eliminates the potential system hangs. This temporary workaround involves lowering the speed of the AGP connection to 1X. Internal AMD testing of the drivers implementing the current workaround results in a minimal effect on overall performance on most graphic intensive applications, which is almost entirely offset by additional optimizations that have been implemented since the original GeForce reference drivers were first introduced.
