There are a lot, an awful lot, of bargains here now. What is clouding our judgement is the fact that "the market" has not broken yet, even though by most reasonable definitions (all except for CNBC's) the market has. This is really difficult. Do you wait, thinking that when the tech bubble breaks, everything goes down another 50%, or do you completely ignore the techs and just buy businesses for significantly less than they are worth? Seems like I answered my own question. But what if you are an institutional investor who's career depends on beating an index. Then the question gets much much tougher, and has much higher stakes.
