<<I have been speculating (not investing) in gold stocks for about 20 years, and I could not imagine doing buy-and-hold, especially over the last fours years>>

But does that mean we have not at last seen the all time bottom?

Bob,

Thanks for all your number crunching! I don't use it but, it's fun to read. I no longer set price objectives in advance. I just try to let the market tell what it is doing. Price/volume/structure.

Good Luck!

Bob:

Actually it's easy to imagine people investing in gold who are not traders - even holding gold stocks and never selling them. So far as I know no one has been able to analyse the pattern - but for a long time people have held gold stocks as an insurance against financial mishaps. Some people maintain gold investments as 10-15% of their portfolio. They may soon be rewarded for their perseverance -but many of them will not sell. These are the real die hards.

Bob - "You will find my other post amusing, since I guessed an equilibrium price before reading your post. I picked $363.28 +/- $10, which falls completely inside your range !!"

Art or science? - if the latter what are your criteria? After such a spell in the basement we may be lucky to find any kind of equilibrium for a while.

And what is value? It used to be said that an ounce of gold should buy a man a suit - tailored I assume -by that token $363.28 (very exact!) doesn't quite fit, cut it, - whatever pun fits the bill? Depends on the tailor I guess?
