Posted by Rochelle at Wed Feb 02, 7:09 PM PT The director of Thailand's e-commerce agency said on Tuesday he expected to see rapid growth in electronic commerce this year due to accelerating economic growth and increasing awareness of the benefits of the Internet. Pichet Durongkaveroj, the director of the Electronic Commerce Resource Center, said Thailand's recovery from its recent economic crisis would encourage many Thai corporations to develop their e-commerce businesses. Pichet quoted industry forecasts suggesting Thailand's e-commerce revenues would jump to 51 billion baht ($1.36 billion) in 2000 from an estimated 1.2 billion in 1999.
